The Hexagon Cup is scrapping games and sets from 2027.

Every match will now be played as the best of five Super Tie-Breaks.

The news broke in Abu Dhabi on 21 October 2026, with a second headline attached. The team event backed by Andy Murray, Sergio Agüero and Pierre Gasly becomes a four-stop global tour, the Hexagon World Series.

First up: Madrid, from 21 to 24 January 2027, at the Caja Mágica.

“We want to revolutionise the way fans experience padel, and how professional padel is presented.”

Gary Davidson, Hexagon World Series co-founder

Hexagon Cup 2027: The New Format in 3 Rules

Rule 1: you win a match by taking 3 Super Tie-Breaks out of 5.

The first four go to 10 points, the fifth to 6 points.

Rule 2: at 10-10, the Star Point settles it on a single deciding point.

Rule 3: every tie pits two teams against each other in one men’s match and one women’s match, both carrying equal sporting weight.

The format was designed with the FIP, which recognises the Hexagon World Series as the first professional team padel tour.

FIP President Luigi Carraro calls it “an innovative approach to professional padel”, built to reach new audiences.

Madrid, North America, Scandinavia, Abu Dhabi: The 2027 Calendar

Born in Madrid in 2024, the competition now spreads across 3 continents.

  • Madrid (Spain): 21-24 January 2027, Caja Mágica
  • North America: March 2027, city to be announced
  • Scandinavia: June 2027, city to be announced
  • Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates): October 2027, season final

At each stop, 8 teams play in 2 groups of 4, then a final round decides the full standings.

A single ranking links all 4 events: 25 points for the winner, then 18, 15, 12, 9, 6, 3 and 0.

The total crowns the first season champion in Abu Dhabi in October 2027.

7 Teams Confirmed, the 8th Still Under Wraps

Seven franchises are confirmed for 2027:

  • AD/vantage Padel Team (Andy Murray, Anthony Joshua), champions in 2024 and 2026
  • KRÜ Padel by Taktika (Sergio Agüero), champions in 2025
  • X Padel (Pierre Gasly, Loïc Féry)
  • ElevenEleven Team USA (Eva Longoria)
  • Rafa Nadal Academy Team
  • Team Bella Puerto Rico
  • Dalma Team, a new franchise representing Abu Dhabi

The organisers describe the 8th team as “a closely guarded secret” and will reveal it in a separate announcement.

Each team fields one men’s pair and one women’s pair, with equal prize money for men and women.

What Happens Next?

Three announcements are still due before Madrid: the team line-ups, the two host cities and the 8th franchise.

Players will be named “in the coming weeks”, according to the organisers.

The bet is clear: shorter matches and more frequent deciding points for a crowd that topped 37,000 spectators in 2026.

The real test comes in January, with players used to the sets of the Premier Padel tour.

To see where the players stand until then, the FIP padel world ranking gives every pair’s position.
